The Monroe Park Campus Addition, the largest construction project in VCU history at 11 acres and $288 million, includes a second building for the School of Engineering, a new building for the School of Business, a residential college, the VCU Brandcenter and a parking deck.
School of Engineering East Hall
401 West Main Street
East Hall, the second home of the School of Engineering, opened in spring 2008. The new, 115,000-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art lecture halls, more than 60 research and teaching labs, student meeting and study spaces, classrooms, and faculty offices.
Snead Hall
301 West Main Street
Snead Hall, the new home of the School of Business, opened its doors in January 2008. The 145,000-square-foot facility, named in honor of School of Business alumni Thomas G. Snead Jr. and Vickie M. Snead, includes traditional classrooms and faculty offices, as well as a capital markets center and trading room, a student commons and café, and collaborative learning and team-building breakout rooms.
Cary and Belvidere Residential College
301 West Cary Street
The newest option for on-campus living, Cary and Belvidere Residential College, opened in August 2008. Housing 413 upperclassmen in apartment-style living, the residential college features a large, inner courtyard and retail stores on the ground level, including a Starbucks coffee shop and Cary Street Market and Deli — a convenience grocery market with prepared foods.
Chili’s restaurant
301 West Cary Street
The university’s first fully licensed Chili’s restaurant opened to the VCU community in fall 2008 on the ground floor of the Cary and Belvidere Residential College.
VCU Brandcenter
103 South Jefferson Street
Founded in 1996, the VCU Brandcenter stands as one of the leading graduate advertising programs in the country. The center, housed in a new facility in the historic Belt Building, offers a master’s degree in mass communications with a concentration in five tracks: art direction, communications strategy, copywriting, creative brand management and creative technology.
Jefferson Street Parking Deck
100 South Jefferson Street
The newest parking facility on the Virginia Commonwealth University Monroe Park Campus, the Jefferson Street Deck features 686 parking spaces with a direct exit onto the westbound Downtown Expressway.
