Plan to attend our Open House!

You and your family are cordially invited to attend VCU Fall Open House 2009 for prospective students at Virginia Commonwealth University on either Saturday, Oct. 10, or Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.

Open House will be a day to learn more about VCU’s outstanding academic programs as well as to get a sense of student life on campus. Experience the diversity that makes VCU a special place!

You will have the opportunity to:

• Learn about academic programs and support services.
• Meet faculty members and student services staff.
• Attend special sessions about The Honors College, financial aid, admissions and housing.
• Take a walking tour of the campus and visit a residence hall. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

RSVP

We are delighted that you want to visit VCU. We are no longer taking RSVPs for the Nov. 7, Open House. If you have not yet sent in your RSVP and wish to attend this Saturday’s event, you are still welcome to do so! Just come to the Siegel Center during check in between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m. on Saturday and register in person.

General schedule of activities

The Open House kicks off at 9 a.m. in VCU’s Stuart C. Siegel Center. Check in is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. where a detailed list of the schedule of activities will be available. We encourage you to arrive early to meet with current students, faculty and staff during the morning Student Information Resource Fair.

Academic overviews
10 a.m. to noon – Various locations

During the academic overviews, you will have the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and students in the school or college that houses the major you're interested in studying. You can attend more than one academic overview if you have more than one interest.

Tours and special sessions
10:30 a.m. to noon – Various locations

During the late morning and afternoon, there will be a number of events taking place, including an academic session about our pre-health sciences advising and options in health careers, campus tours and tours of Art, Engineering and Life Sciences facilities. In addition to its open house activities, the School of the Arts will be hosting the National Portfolio Day event beginning at noon. There will be sessions about admissions, on-campus housing, The Honors College, study abroad and financial aid during the afternoon as well. The day’s sessions end around 2:30 p.m.
