Primeros Pasos

Primeros Pasos, or First Steps, is a one-day program to motivate and encourage Latino high school students to attend college and to showcase all that Virginia Commonwealth University has to offer. VCU students, parents, administrators, faculty and alumni will be available throughout the day to welcome you and share their experiences. The day will feature interactive sessions for both students and parents.

Activities include:

  • Bilingual workshop for parents about financial aid
  • Panel discussion with students from VCU’s Latino community
  • Conversations with representatives from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
  • A campus tour
  • Admission to “Movimientos,” a cultural show in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month

Primeros Pasos is held in collaboration with the VCU Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, the Latino Student Association, La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc. and Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority Inc. There is no cost for students or parents who participate in Primeros Pasos.
