Intercollegiate athletics

The mission of intercollegiate athletics at VCU is to complement and supplement the total educational program of the institution. The athletic department provides positive learning experiences for all students and gives you the opportunity to share in personal and group success. VCU athletics offers you opportunities to participate in activities that help to build unity among all members of the university community.

VCU, an NCAA Division I and Colonial Athletic Association member, sponsors 16 intercollegiate sports with more than 250 student-athletes. With new athletic facilities and upgraded programs, VCU’s intercollegiate athletics programs continue to expand. Intercollegiate athletic teams for men include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, and indoor and outdoor track and field. Women’s teams include basketball, cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and indoor and outdoor track and field.

VCU is a member of the NCAA’s Life Skills Program, which provides educational experiences and services to help student-athletes develop well-balanced lifestyles, through programming in academics, athletics, and personal, service and career development. As part of this program, VCU student-athletes are known throughout Richmond for their generous volunteer work.
