Activities

Extracurricular activities

VCU offers many ways for you to get involved as a student. From athletics to fun social activities, there's always something to do around campus.

Student Commons and Activities

University Student Commons and Activities offers a wide variety of programs and services to enhance campus life at VCU. The Commons is the gathering place for the campus community. Comfortable lounges, quiet areas, an open-access computer lab, a student-managed art gallery, a food court and cafe, a big-screen TV, and a game room with billiards and video games make the Commons a great place to break between classes or socialize on the weekend.

Service offices, including Counseling Services, Career Center and the computer store Online@VCU, are located in the Commons and easily accessible for your use. Off Campus Student Services provides information and assistance to off-campus students through educational programs, apartment listings, lockers and ride-share information.

University Student Commons and Activities provides a number of opportunities for involvement, entertainment and academic enrichment during your university career. Whether you are interested in volunteer work, academic clubs or developing your leadership skills, University Student Commons and Activities will put you on the right path. Staff members work with student organizations to bring films, concerts and special events to campus. Special events begin with the not-to-be-missed FirstRAM Friday, a fun evening event to acquaint you with University Student Commons and Activities programs and staff. A yearlong series of events helps to make VCU a vibrant community. Events typically include lectures, fairs and festivals, concerts (featuring local and national bands), short courses and Homecoming.
