Office of Undergraduate Admissions has temporarily moved

Ritter Hickok HouseThe Office of Undergraduate Admissions has temporarily moved from its location in the Ritter-Hickok House to Grace E. Harris Hall at 1015 Floyd Ave. If you are on the Monroe Park Campus and have questions and inquiries, please visit the main office in Harris Hall, Room 4117 or the Welcome Center, located at 1111 W. Broad St.

Ritter-Hickok House is undergoing renovations and is expected to be completed by October 2008.

Built in 1855, the Ritter-Hickok House at 821 West Franklin Street is the oldest building on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Purchased in 1939 by Richmond Professional Institute, the building was the sixth property acquired by the school and used initially as a women’s dormitory.

University to observe Memorial Day holiday

The university will be closed on Saturday, May 24 and Monday, May 26, 2008, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Information sessions and campus tours will not be held on those days.

An information session is held in the Welcome Center, located at 1111 W. Broad St., every Monday through Saturday at 10:30 a.m. except on holidays and holiday weekends. The information session is followed by an hour-long, guided walking tour of the Monroe Park Campus.

The guided campus tour does not include a visit to a residence hall room, but information about each of the residence halls, including general descriptions and floor plans, can be found on the Web at www.housing.vcu.edu/showcase/dormmain.asp. In addition, photographs of residence hall rooms are available in the Welcome Center and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. After the tour is completed, for those who are interested in asking more personal questions, an admissions counselor is available to meet with prospective students and their families. Reservations for individual students and their families are not required for attendance at these daily sessions.

Self-guided tour maps are available for visitors who are unable to attend the daily session.

Admissions office staff members are available in the center between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays to speak with students and their families.
