Game days at VCU are marked by streams of black and gold apparel. From tennis to basketball to volleyball — you’ll find a reason for face paint.
At VCU, our winning spirit carries over from the classroom to our 17 NCAA Division I sports teams.
Our Ram spirit hit a new high in 2011, when our men’s basketball team made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament under the leadership of coach Shaka Smart — and it’s only grown since then. VCU has a habit of selling out its home games, so don’t forget to get your (free) tickets!
A brand-new member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, VCU boasts more than 250 student-athletes.
The mission of intercollegiate athletics at VCU is to complement and supplement the total educational program of the university. The athletic department provides positive learning experiences for all students and gives you the opportunity to share in personal and group success.
VCU is a member of the NCAA’s Life Skills Program, which provides educational experiences and services to help our student-athletes develop well-balanced lifestyles, through programming in academics, athletics, and personal, service and career development. As part of this program, VCU student-athletes are known throughout Richmond for their generous volunteer work.
Scholarship aid is available for each of VCU’s intercollegiate athletic teams. If you’re interested in obtaining information about athletic scholarships, write to the athletic department or have your current coach contact VCU on your behalf.
